VT-DMU – Use the potential of digital data
VT-DMU stands for innovative products, solutions and technologies. This claim was validated in 2016 when invenio software received the German Innovation Award in the medium business category. The software portfolio organises and manages the complexity of digital development data with unique flexibility.
VT-DMU stands for ʹVirtual Technologies – Digital Mock-upʹ. It is a modular design that is fully adapted to the clients requirements. The core of the software consists of all available functions. The various interface modules connect the core with the invenio or client products or with third party systems.

The core of VT-DMU contains all the functions or algorithms needed for calculation or simulations. The individual modules of the invenio software can always be combined flexibly according to the client’s needs and desired range of functionality of the end user.
The following functions are part of the current service portfolio:
Assessment of clashes and clearance non-compliances.
Assessment of clearance regions (clearance bands).
Rule-based search of models located close to other models.
Intelligent supplement to geometry. Every model knows its position in the area (part of neigbor-search-inVT).
Basis (Server) for results management (e.g. to manage clash results).
Basis for problem tracking (geometry, structure, hardware problems).
Assessment of geometric differences (e.g. between two component versions).
Meta data comparison (e.g. between two product structures).
Assessment of a static shell by coring (e.g. engine). All non-visible components are removed.
Assessment of static shells as surface models (BREP) (only in connection with surface_filter-in VT).
Reduction of large quantities of data by coarsening (small triangles are combined into larger ones).
Reduction of large quantities of data by deleting duplicated geometry.
Assessment of dynamic shells (wrapping of moved components).
Automatic picture production (standard and high-end rendering).
Automatic fitting and removal of components or assemblies.
Filling and emptying of containers (e.g. volumetric measurement of a tank).

Access to the VT-DMU functions is via flexible, target-group oreintated interfaces – our APIs (Application Programming Interface). This flexibilty allows both stand-alone solutions and complete integration into the client’s available systems.
Standard-Workflows are pre-configured simulation or assessment procedures which are connected to CAx systems by, for example, the graphical user interface ʹconnectʹ. Our clients use the Standard Workflows directy without implemention issues by ʹplug and playʹ. This entry-level solution is optimised for small and medium businesses.
- Individual Solution
Individual solutions are built up from individual software modules. Our experts select specific modules (functions) based on the client’s specific requirements and link these together so that they deliver the required results.
Example: A client wants to reduce the amount of engine data first, then disassemble and finally wrap up the disassembly path. With the aid of the combination of ʹsurface-filterʹ, ʹplannerʹ und ʹswept-volumeʹ the software forms the bespoke solution as a client-specific workflow.
- Partner Solutions
We extend the products of software providers to the functionalities of VT-DMU by the Partner Solution. Free access and the flexible combination of the individual modules are directly possible via full licensing of the API.
In addition to the individual features we already offer pre-configured, high-performance solutions that can be integrated directly into your system. Quality Monitor provides a quick overview of the simulation results. Connect is the attractive entry in the VT-software technology and WebView visualises the simulation results in the browser.
Geometric protection – automatic, fast, user-friendly
'Geometric security' within the product creation process is transparent, controllable and reliable with invenio Quality-Monitor. The module lists clearly all geometric conflicts with the aid of the existing product structure. Thus a fast and simple analysis is possible for the user. The bold 'traffic light view' shows the degree of maturity of the complete virtual vehicle. A particular advantage: the developer responsible only has to analyse each conflicting component pair once due to the optimised interaction with the VT-DMU functions – the Quality Monitor will automatically notify if a new, potentially critical change is made.
Connect is the simple and easy access to the simulation of virtual products. A combination of standard workflows optimized by experts for the immediate use of individual work processes from the extensive range of VT-DMU functions.
Visualisation 'to go'
WebView is the standard invenio access product for visualisation of 3-D data in the Web browser. Local installations become superfluous through this technology. The ideal foundation for the use of web-based application.
